Dentures
Dentures are prosthetic devices designed to replace missing teeth. For many people, dentures are an affordable option that provide the aesthetic look desired without surgery. Whether you’re considering dentures for the first time or looking to replace your current dentures, we offer a variety of options and are happy to help you decide which is best for your lifestyle and your budget.
Conventional dentures are removable and come as a complete set of teeth or a partial set of teeth, depending on the condition of your natural teeth. A complete set of conventional dentures is made after your teeth have been removed and gum tissue has begun to heal. It takes roughly eight to twelve weeks for your mouth to heal before your dentures can be placed. “Immediate” dentures can be used in the interim for aesthetic purposes but because these are made ahead of time, they won’t offer the perfect fit like conventional dentures will and will require some modification after the tissues have healed.
A removable partial denture is a smaller set of teeth attached to a pink or gum colored plastic base, often connected by metal framework that holds the denture in place. Partial dentures like this are used when some natural teeth remain in the upper or lower jaw. The partial dentures replace gaps or spaces with realistic looking teeth so you can smile with confidence again. The dentures also prevent your other teeth from shifting or changing position.
Dentures have a variety of benefits:
- Improved chewing, so you can eat normally again
- Dentures can give your face a more natural appearance as they help support the lips and cheeks, correcting the collapsed appearance that results from tooth loss
- Pronunciation is often improved with dentures
- Dentures can also be a major self-esteem booster
