Home Instructions
We’re committed to providing our patients with the best care possible, as well as the tools needed to successfully care for their teeth and gums at home. We recommend routine dental checkups every 6 months, but in order to keep your smile looking pearly-white and your gums healthy, a home care regimen is necessary.
Tooth Brushing
We recommend brushing with an ADA soft-bristled tooth brush or an electric toothbrush for a minimum of 2 minutes, 2-3x per day. (Especially before going to bed at night.) To brush like a pro, be sure to do the following:
- Place the brush at a 45 degree angle to the gums and use a gentle, small circular motion.
- Brush the outer, inner and biting surfaces of every tooth.
- Use the tip of your brush to clean the inside of your front teeth.
- Brush your tongue to remove any remaining bacteria and freshen your breath.
Flossing
It’s also important to floss below the contact of each tooth on a daily basis, placing mild pressure against the sides of your teeth.
Mouthwash
To eliminate harmful bacteria and freshen your breath, incorporate a daily mouthwash. Be sure the label reads antibacterial or antimicrobial.
Extra Care
For sensitive teeth or gums, a daily medication or desensitizer is a good way to keep your mouth healthy in between dental check-ups.
