Bridges
A dental bridge is designed to literally “bridge” the gap created by one or more missing teeth. If you’re missing one or more teeth, but still have many of your natural teeth, dental bridges may be the solution you’re looking for.
Typical bridges are made up of two crowns – one for each side of the gap created by your missing teeth – and a false tooth or teeth that fill the gap between the crowns. The crowns act as anchors to keep your false teeth in place. They may be your natural teeth or dental implants.
At Lee Dental, we offer a variety of dental bridges to help restore your smile. To create a custom fit, we’ll schedule an appointment to prepare the abutment teeth, or crowns, on either side of your missing teeth. During this appointment we’ll take impressions of your teeth and gums to create a custom mold for your bridge and we’ll make a temporary bridge for you to wear to protect your exposed teeth while your permanent bridge is being made.
At your next visit, we’ll remove your temporary bridge and make sure your new, permanent bridge is a good fit. Most permanent bridges are fixed or cemented into place, while others are removable. We may need to make some minor adjustments, but once your bridge is complete it can last for five to ten years or more.
Like dentures and implants, bridges are a great solution for missing teeth with both aesthetic and health benefits. Bridges can help you chew food more thoroughly, speak more clearly and smile more often!
